About Us

Saving Paws Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving homeless, abandoned and special needs pets in Northeast Wisconsin. We are volunteer-run and funded solely by private donations.

Saving Paws began with Michelle McRae. Michelle has cared for homeless pets for more than thirteen years on her own. With the help of a small group of animal lovers, we have come together to help even more pets in need by forming this nonprofit organization.

We primarily care for cats and kittens at this time, but we also accept other small domesticated animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and turtles. We typically have 50 to 75 cats and kittens at our shelter at any given time.

We also help dogs, some at our shelter and some in foster care homes. We hope to raise additional funds to obtain a kennel license so that we can build kennels and more housing space for dogs in the near future.

The pets we help come from many areas. We help many kitties who are rescued from farms or found abandoned. We also help people who need to surrender their pets because they can no longer care for them. We try to help as many people and pets as we can, but we often have a waiting list.

We adopt most of our pets from our shelter, but also adopt from foster care homes and community partners.
